Fission Contributor License Agreement (CLA)

This Contributor License Agreement (“Agreement”) describes the terms under which contributions are accepted into the Fission project.

By submitting code, documentation, tests, assets, or any other contribution to Fission, you agree to the terms below.

1. Definitions

• “Project” means the Fission repository and related Fission codebases maintained by the project owner.
• “Contribution” means any original work of authorship intentionally submitted to the Project, including source code, patches, pull requests, issues with code snippets, tests, documentation, examples, and design materials.
• “You” means the individual contributor or the legal entity on whose behalf the contribution is submitted.

2. Your Copyright

You retain ownership of your copyright in your Contributions.

3. License Grant to Fission

You grant the Project maintainer and future Fission maintainers a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free license to:

• use
• reproduce
• modify
• prepare derivative works of
• publicly display
• publicly perform
• sublicense
• distribute

your Contributions as part of the Project or any related Fission project.

This license includes the right to distribute your Contributions under:

• the Project’s open-source license, currently AGPL-3.0
• a future version of that license
• another open-source license
• a commercial or proprietary license

This is intended to preserve the ability to operate Fission as an open-core project.

4. Patent Grant

To the extent you own or control patent claims that would be infringed by your Contribution or by the combination of your Contribution with the Project, you grant the Project maintainer and recipients of the Project a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free patent license to make, have made, use, sell, offer for sale, import, modify, distribute, and otherwise run the Project.

5. Your Representations

You represent that:

• you have the legal right to submit the Contribution
• the Contribution is your original work, or you have sufficient rights to submit it under these terms
• if you submit on behalf of an employer or other entity, you have authority to bind that entity
• to the best of your knowledge, the Contribution does not intentionally violate the intellectual property rights of others

6. Third-Party Material

If your Contribution includes code, content, or other material created by a third party, you must clearly identify it and ensure that it may be lawfully contributed under the terms of this Agreement.

7. No Obligation to Accept Contributions

The Project is not required to accept any Contribution.

8. No Warranty

Except as required by applicable law, Contributions are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind.

9. How This Agreement Is Accepted

You agree to this Agreement by doing any of the following:

• opening a pull request
• submitting a patch
• committing code intended for inclusion in the Project
• otherwise making a Contribution to the Project

10. Contact

If you need an entity-signature flow or a separate written CLA process, contact the Project maintainer before contributing significant code.
